The largest group, and the pests found most often in Sydney kitchens, bathrooms and wall voids.
Cockroaches
Flat, oval bodies from 10mm German roaches to 40mm American roaches. Signs are droppings like ground pepper, a musty smell and egg cases in dark, warm spots near food and water.

Trails of small insects along skirtings and benchtops, often to a sugar or grease source. Fine soil mounds near paths and a sudden line of ants after rain are common Sydney signs.
Ant controlTermites
Rarely seen in the open. Watch for mud tubes on piers and walls, timber that sounds hollow, bubbling paint and discarded wings after a warm, humid evening. The most damaging pest of all.
